Our hostel is located in the northern city center, a district that is getting more and more the creative hotspot of Essen. It is close to university, surrounded by pubs, theaters and event venues. Our hostel is the perfect spot to start exploring the city.

Neighborhood

GOP

The vaudeville theater is located directly opposite of the hostel and offers changing international shows. At the reception desk you can often get remaining tickets at a discount.

rock scene

Directly next to the "Viehofer Platz" gathers the rock scene of Essen. In summer, the "Café Nord", "Don’t Panic" and "Turock" open a huge beer garden. Each week, several concerts will take place and once a year a well-known festival.

Unperfekthaus

The "artist village" Unperfekthaus offers creative and working people the opportunity to realize themselves on an area of 4000 square meters, spread over seven floors. Any censorship or guidelines are waived. The only requirement is that the activities are legal, creative and open to the public.

Atelierhaus

The "Atelierhaus" is a space operated by the city that enables artists to rent an affordable studio space. Therefore, at the "Atelierhaus" are often exhibitions, workshops and concerts.

Kreuzes­kirche

This church is a heritage building and a site of great cultural interest. There are not only services taking place at this church but also concerts, techno parties and weddings.

VielRespektZentrum represents the legal system, diversity and respect. It is a space for associations, seminars and meetings that promote a diverse world.

At Vibes, you can get delicious coffee, bowls & cake. They have a sunny outside area and a cozy lounge area in the back of the coffee shop.

There are a plenty of studios in this district, e.g. K29 GALERIE RICARDA FOX, Forum für Kunst und Architektur, Kunstverein Ruhr, Karo, Gublia...

Limbecker Platz

Limbecker Platz is the biggest shopping mall in Essen. Across an area of around 70,000 m² you can find everything you need.

Bicycle City

For a few years now, old railway lines in the Ruhr area have been converted into bicycle lanes. There are unlimited opportunities to cycle along the river Ruhr, the Rhine-Herne Canal or on old railways.

In 2020, a referendum by Radentscheid Essen managed to collect 24,189 signatures. Since then there have been more and more bicycle streets in Essen and a new bicycle parking garage in the city center.
